About Howard Wimshurst
When I was in school, I discovered a simple animation software called Adobe Flash, and started experimenting with what I could do. To my delight, I learned that you did not need a studio, a fancy computer, or a university degree to start making films!
After experimenting by myself, I chose to enter into online animation competitions. Surrounded by more experienced animators, I was pushed to improve my skills extremely fast! I also made friends who I am still close with today.
From my competition entries, I began to gain the interest of clients. These clients would range from website owners to writers, musicians and YouTube personalities. From agreeing to work with a variety of clients, I learned that one of my biggest passions was creative problem solving - finding creative solutions to help you, weather you are an established business, a studio, a startup or an independent artist.
I have now led a wide range of art and animation projects with many clients including Cancer Research UK, Immortal Studios, SFL, Medtech & Pharma, Bernard Hyppolite and Crosswinds (with their debut music video, Meet the Sky).
From travelling to animation conventions across the world, I have met so many lovely people in the animation community! I wanted to contribute to this great community, so I founded Animator guild - a free online educational channel which teaches advanced 2d animation and drawing methods to aspiring animators.
Although I learned a lot from freelancing, my appetite for learning could not be satisfied. I went to UCA Farnham to create some experimental short films. Now I am learning the latest animation techniques at the University of Portsmouth. I especially enjoy team projects where I can have a dialogue with other animators.
